Taco Salad - 8 PP

A simple taco salad seems like the perfect place to start our blog.  My daughter loves tacos and we have this about once a week.  If you stick around, you will learn that I loathe fat free food.  For one, it doesn't taste as good.  Second, when fat is removed something else is normally added.  I prefer to use less of the full fat or low fat products.

Personally,  the chips and cheese make this salad feel rich. However, you can lower the points by using a baked tortilla chip or a fat free cheese.   You can really load up on the veggies without adding any points, too!

Tip . . . if having a full bag of chips is too much of a temptation, just purchase a snack size bag.

Ingredients

TACO MEAT (Follow package directions)
1 lb extra lean ground beef (or turkey)
5 teaspoons Wildtree Taco Seasoning
1/2 cup water

low fat shredded cheddar cheese
tortilla chips

OPTIONAL TOPPINGS - ZERO POINTS!
shredded lettuce
chopped tomatoes
chopped onions
chopped jalapenos
salsa
Wildtree Taco Sauce

There's no right or wrong way to put your salad together but here is the point value for the basics.

1 Serving  = 8 Points
1 oz crushed tortilla chips
2 oz prepared taco meat
1 oz  low fat shredded cheese
your choice of toppings

You can order Taco Seasoning from your personal Wildtree rep or visit mywildtree.com/joni .  Email me (wildtreejoni@gmail.com) about hosting an online/facebook party to get your taco seasoning (and more!) for free!
